The Stories that Stay With Us with Critical Care NP Des Wood
On today's episode, I have the opportunity to talk with fabulously accomplished Des Wood, DNP, ARNP, AGPCNP-BC, CCRN. She is Nurse Practitioner working in the ICU with over 13 years of experience in Critical Care. She also is a yoga instructor and has a new business called Seattle Beauty where she provides at holistic approach to the traditional medical spa. You can find more about that here.
Des and I get to talking about the stories that stay with us... the ones that linger in our minds. As Des says, the point in talking about this is to lift the veil on some of what we as nurses experience so that our colleagues out there know that they are not alone. A lot of us have had walk into situations where we feel ill-prepared or struggle with what is happening. Yet, somehow we do it with grace and compassion.
We both share experiences that were difficult and how it impacted us. I discuss a time when I felt profound moral distress and Des shares her experience transitioning a beautiful, young woman to comfort care.
