The Ethical Considerations of ECMO – An Interview with Lisa Soltis, Senior ECMO Clinical Specialist

The Ethical Considerations of ECMO

Today I have Lisa Pylat Soltis, MN, RN, CCRN-CMC-CSC, CHFN, PCCN Senior ECMO Clinical Specialist back on the show to talk about the ethical considerations of using Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). This episode is an emotionally heavy one, although important. We discuss who ECMO is best for, what is destination therapy and the definition of a bridge to no where.

Lisa shares stories from her own experience at the bedside as well as discusses some clinical cases. She also brings up moral distress and how it relates to ECMO.

This is a very heartfelt episode. Bring a tissue.

Thank you, Lisa for being back on the show and for educating all of us.

Stay Safe and Stay Sane,

Nicole
